A girl in a room

A girl in the room, in a corner she cries
Trying to cover, trying to hide
All the creases, the scars, and marks on her arm
That she has convinced herself cause no harm

She wipes away tears, and gets up from her spot
Goes back to the world, carrying a heart that has dropped
No one knows, no one suspects
That this girl with beauty has a secret that's kept
Within the depths of her heart
Locked away in her soul

Some tell her she is amazingly great
Some tell her she is a failure whom they hate
Their words are another cut on her arm
Which neither group notice the alarm

The people who tell her she is the worst they've ever seen
Make her feel worthless, unlovable and very unclean
The people who tell her she is a wonderful girl
pushes her more to be the best in the world

What we aren't aware of is the strength we don't give her
We all tell her she is good, but she could do better.
Though it is true we all can improve
To her, this is something she feels she will lose
She feels like if she doesn't do well at all
She will fail and never prove the haters wrong

In life, school and relationships too
she feels like all she will do is lose
never will she win
never will she succeed
never will she have a true love that she can keep
